Fit & expectations

This works best for runners who want to train thoughtfully and consistently

There’s no single “type” of athlete here. But over the years, this style of coaching tends to suit people who value process, communication, and long-term development.

This is probably a good fit if you…

  • Are training for trail or ultra races and want a plan built around you.
  • Care about staying healthy, consistent, and improving over time.
  • Like having structure, but want flexibility when life intervenes.
  • Are open to communicating honestly about how training is going.
  • Want guidance, not just workouts.

This might not be the best fit if you…

  • Only want a one-off plan without ongoing feedback.
  • Prefer to manage your own training with minimal input.
  • Are mainly looking for the cheapest possible option.
  • Don’t currently have the time or headspace to engage with coaching.
How it works in practice

This is what ongoing coaching actually includes

This isn’t a one-off plan. It’s a continuous process of planning, observing, adjusting, and guiding — built around your life, not just your race calendar.

Individual training plan

Your training is built specifically around your background, goals, race calendar, available time, and current fitness — and evolves as those things change.

Ongoing adjustments

Training is updated regularly based on how you’re responding, how life is going, and what’s coming up — not just blindly following a schedule.

Feedback & communication

You’re not training in a vacuum. You’ll get regular feedback, check-ins, and honest guidance about what’s working, what isn’t, and what we should change.

Long-term development

The goal isn’t just your next race. We’re building your durability, decision-making, and performance over months and years, not just one training block.

Coaching philosophy

Train with purpose, adapt as needed, build for the long run

At Apex Rises Coaching, our philosophy is simple. Good running is not built on more miles, it is built on smarter, more thoughtful preparation. We specialize in trail and ultra-distance running, but we coach athletes across all distances, from 5K to marathon to 100+ km ultras, because the same principles that build durable ultra runners also build strong, resilient runners at every level.

At Apex Rises, the goal is simple. Help you train smarter, grow stronger, and show up to your races confident, prepared, and ready to perform, even when the goal feels a little intimidating.

Training should be evidence-based

Plans are built using sports science, data, and real-world coaching experience, not trends, shortcuts, or guesswork.

Training must fit life

Work, family, travel, and stress are not obstacles, they are context. Your training adapts to your life, not the other way around.

Consistency matters more than intensity

Progress is not built in single heroic workouts. It is built through the steady accumulation of smart training, recovery, and adjustments.

Every athlete is an individual

No two runners are the same. Your training is built around your goals, history, fitness, recovery, and rhythm of life.

Long-term development comes first

The focus is on building durable fitness that improves season after season, not just for one race.

Coaching is a partnership

You get ongoing feedback, regular plan updates, and two-way communication so your training evolves as you do.

Real athletes

Quiet progress, real results

The goal is not hype or transformation stories. It is steady improvement, better decisions, and showing up prepared on race day.

Here are a few examples of athletes and outcomes from recent seasons. Different people, different goals, same long-term approach.

100 km Mountain Ultra

From repeated DNFs to a strong finish

Two seasons focused on durability, pacing, and consistency turned frustration into a controlled, confident race execution.

Trail Marathon

From surviving to competing

Shifted from just finishing races to running with structure, control, and consistent performance across a full season.

First Ultra

From uncertainty to a controlled debut

Built gradually, arrived healthy, paced well, and finished feeling in control instead of destroyed.

Next step

If this approach feels right, let’s talk

I work with a limited number of athletes to keep the coaching personal and the quality high. The first step is a short application so I can understand your background, your goals, and what you are working toward.

If it looks like a good fit, we will schedule a short call and take it from there. If not, I will be honest about that too.
